Madagascar Family Holidays
Madagascar offers a potentially incredible family adventure
However, Madagascar is only suitable for adventurous families with older children who are well-travelled and used to the rigours of overland travel. The landscapes are beautiful, the habitats are diverse and the lemur viewing is simply wonderful.
The range of experiences and activities on offer is also superb for active families, including lots of walking in differing habitats, sea kayaking, snorkelling and diving. On top of this there are in depth cultural experiences available.
However, Madagascar is not an easy country to visit and is certainly not a likely destination for a relaxed family holiday. Flight delays are common, family accommodation is hard to find, all wildlife activities involve walking, and long drives are often required to move between areas.
In general Madagascar is therefore not a mainstream family option, but for certain families with active teenage children it could offer the adventure of a lifetime.
