Uganda Private & Specialist Guiding

Most safaris in Uganda are hosted by a private guide, who acts as a driver between different regions and as a guide for game drives, walks and sight-seeing.

This guide is hugely important to the success of your safari, even if they do not guide you on the more specialist activities such as chimp and gorilla tracking, which is always guided by specialist local guides employed by the park authorities.

The general standard of guiding in Uganda is pretty good, especially considering that there is a significant practical element to their role as your ‘driver guide’ and they need to do more than just guide you for a few hours each day. However, some are obviously more experienced than others, especially when it comes to specialist interests such as birds.

We work with one particular guide who is not only a lovely guy but also a fantastic birder who knows Uganda inside out. If you are keen on birds he will add so much value to your Uganda experience and we highly recommend him.
