Praslin island
Praslin is the second largest island in the Seychelles and is a good base from which to visit other nearby islands.
Praslin is beautiful island with a bustling yet calm feel. There are numerous fantastic beaches, notably Anse Lazio on the north of the island which is considered to be one of the most beautiful in Seychelles. Anse Bois de Rose, Anse Petite Cour and Cote d’Or are three further options, whilst the small island of St. Pierre (accessed by boat) offer the best snorkelling.
Praslin is also home to the famous Vallee de Mai where the legendary Coco-de-Mer palms grow – the seed being the largest produced by any plant in the world (7 species of palms here are found nowhere else in the world). The island is also home to three of the world’s rarest birds – the Seychelles bulbul, the Fruit pigeon, and the Black parrot.
Praslin lies north-east of Mahé and is serviced by regular flights and ferry crossings. It is also perfectly located for trips to surrounding islands such as Cousine, Curieuse, Aride and La Digue.
