Malawi Honeymoons
Honeymoons in Malawi tend to focus principally on the beaches of Lake Malawi.
Lake Malawi can provide a wonderful beach destination after time spent on safari either within Malawi or in neighbouring Zambia. As a beach destination, Lake Malawi offers a genuine African experience and a very peaceful, relaxing ambiance with activities such as kayaking, snorkelling and scuba diving possible.
Not that many people visit Lake Malawi, compared to Zanzibar or Mauritius, so it feels like a more ‘off the beaten track’ option, and there are also interesting cultural experiences available wherever you go.
The two best beach lodge on the lake are Pumulani in the southern part of the lake, near Cape Maclear, and Kaya Mawa on Likoma Island in the central section of the lake, close to Mozambique. Although technically in Mozambique, Manda Nkwichi is an exclusive beach lodge on the eastern shores of the lake, which is accessed via Likoma Island.
There are plenty of other properties around the lakeshore, including the wonderful Mumbo Island off Cape Maclear, where you can kayak and snorkel in the crystal clear waters.
