Malawi Family Safaris
Malawi can be an excellent family destination offering big game safaris, sight-seeing, culture and beach relaxation.
However, we would expect Malawi to appeal to families with teenage children rather than younger. There can be a reasonable amount of travel involved between areas (often by road, sometimes by air), and there are better areas in Africa to visit for simple combinations of big game and beach relaxation.
The real joy in Malawi is taking a journey through the country, enjoying the friendly welcome from local people, exploring the varied regions and spending time in Africa a little ‘off the beaten track’.
Lake Malawi is often used by families with older children as a beach destination after a safari in neighbouring Zambia, whether hiring a catamaran on the lake for a few days sailing, or visiting one of the exclusive beach lodges where swimming, snorkelling, diving and kayaking may also be possible. Especially for more active, adventurous families, the combination of Zambia and Malawi works really well.
