The camp is open between mid December until the end of March and its location allows guests to be within reach of the migration during calving season. The tents themselves are very comfortable and luxuriously furnished, whilst maintaining the feel of an authentic tented experience. The central areas offer a similarly simple but elegant set up, with sophisticated lounge and dining tents leading out to campfire areas with views out over the surrounding plains. The food and service are superb, and their guides are very good too. A key factor to consider with all Auberge Safari camps is that they focus very hard on providing an exclusive safari environment for each group of guests. A private guide and vehicle are included as standard, and private dining and private sunset drinks are also included for all bookings. Mwiba Plains is not the right camp if you are seeking communal dining and a vibrant bar in the evening, but is perfect for any couple, family or group seeking a very sophisticated and private tented camp experience.

Wayo Serengeti Green Camp is very stylish and comfortable, but still follows the Wayo ethos. The camp moves twice a year between the north and south of the Serengeti National Park, to position itself within reach of the migration, but its locations are away from the busiest areas, ensuring guests can still appreciate the wilderness as well as the wildlife. Activities at the camp focus around game drives, however the company also operates an excellent walking safari outfit and a private walking guide can be booked for anyone who wants to do longer walks. If you’re looking for complete seclusion, the Superior Suites are almost mini villas with separate living/relaxing areas and private plunge pools with direct beach access, whilst the standard rooms are more modest. The real draw of Fundu however isn’t the accommodation, it’s the pristine setting and rare feeling of being away from it all. Pemba also offers world class diving and Fundu’s own dive centre is excellent offering both diving and snorkelling (day trips to the stunning Misali Island are a highlight). Fundu Lagoon is popular with honeymooners, understandably, but it’s ideal for anyone looking for a secluded and relaxed beach retreat with the added attraction of some of the best diving in Africa.

It is also perfectly placed for whale shark encounters between October and March. The lodge offers a no-fuss, laid-back stay, and is suitable for anyone looking for a casual beach escape to relax and unwind.

There is no air con and no fancy infinity swimming pool here. The hospitality is excellent though, with tailored service and superb dining. Mnemba is a true island paradise and the ultimate destination for a romantic getaway.

There are actually two identical camps that occupy different locations at any one time and locations are very flexible, meaning camps can move at relatively short notice (though never while guests are in camp) to take advantage of the best wildlife conditions. This is a good choice of camp in which to stay if you’re travelling during the more transitional migration months when the herd locations are harder to predict. Each location, as well as being chosen for its proximately to the herds, is also a designated walking zone, so the camp is ideal for those who don’t want to spend their entire stay in a vehicle.

Sayari is a good option for families, with a large swimming pool and family accommodation, whilst the two ‘Retreats’ offer an expansive private hideaway for groups of friends and families looking for an exclusive safari.
- [Ndutu Safari Lodge](https://safari-consultants.com/destinations/tanzania/tanzania-accommodation/ndutu-safari-lodge/): Ndutu Safari Lodge has a long history in the Serengeti, being Tanzania’s oldest safari lodge, and an established reputation for hosting researchers and photographers, including primatologist Jane Goodall, filmmaker Hugo van Lawick and archaeologist Mary Leakey. While the accommodation is comfortable, it is not luxurious and retains its original character. The main attraction of the lodge is its superb location for accessing the short grass plains favoured by the wildebeest during calving season. You’ll also find very warm hospitality here and drinks around the campfire at Ndutu Lodge are something of an institution! In addition to its prime location and friendly atmosphere, the lodge offers excellent value. Due to its popularity it can get booked up well in advance during the migration season so you will need to plan ahead.

Whilst sister lodge Chem Chem, located on the Lake Manyara side of the concession, is very suited to a more relaxed and luxurious stay, Little Chem Chem is ideal if you wish to combine a high level of exclusivity and comfort with a more traditional game viewing focus. The camp's location enjoys the best of both the private concession with a wider range of activities offered, while being able to access Tarangire National Park. The camp itself is very comfortable, with high levels of service and food, and it has a lovely outlook over Lake Barunge. Little Chem Chem is a perfect base for a relaxed and exclusive exploration of the Tarangire area.

With 15 rooms, Kuria Hills is not the smallest of lodges, but each room is positioned privately amongst the kopjes. For anyone looking for a prime wildlife viewing base with an excellent level of accommodation, at a sensible price point, this lodge is definitely worth considering.

The aim of the camp is to offer one of the most luxurious mobile camps in the Serengeti, and whilst there is plenty of competition for that title, there is no doubting the guest tents are very well-appointed tents and the main areas are stylish and very comfortable. Laba Migration is one of the few mobile camps to include a third ‘stop’ in its migratory journey (most include only the north and south of the Serengeti), including the western corridor of the park. Each booking at Laba Migration Camp has the benefit of their own guide and vehicle which means you can plan your days to suit – head off in search of the herds for a full day, focus on big cats, or have a slower pace with time to enjoy the camp environment.

This area of the Serengeti is a prime wildlife area with excellent resident predators, while the migration settles here between December and March. It is perhaps the only upmarket lodge you can stay at which offers quick access to the beaches of the Skeleton Coast, whilst also offering inland exploration through the park along the Hoarusib River course. The accommodation is quirky but very comfortable, and the general standards of hospitality are excellent for such a remote place. This is one of the key places to consider if you want to experience the Skeleton Coast.

It is a great base for self-drivers looking for more affordable accommodation and immediate access to game-viewing.
