9 nights of fantastic game viewing through Linyanti, Okavango and Makgadikgadi, combining three of Botswana’s top luxury lodges.

This itinerary combines three of Botswana’s most sophisticated and exclusive safari lodges, providing a wonderfully high quality safari experience throughout. However, this itinerary is not solely built around luxury, as each region featured provides you with a magical safari experience. The private Linyanti Concession offers a remote wilderness experience overlooking the waters of the Linyanti River, while the Mombo Concession in the Okavango Delta has long been known as the top big game spot in Botswana. In the Kalahari Desert, the Makgadikgadi Pans offer a totally different landscape and safari experience, with specialist wildlife and activities. This itinerary cherry picks three magnificent areas and includes three of Botswana’s top properties.

Day 1-3: Wilderness Duma Tau – 3 nights
From Maun you will connect with a shared light aircraft transfer north-east over the eastern Okavango Delta to reach the wild and remote Linyanti Concession in the Greater Linyanti region. A transfer through the bush will take you to Wilderness Duma Tau. Here you will be able to settle in and enjoy the wonderful views out over the Linyanti River, where elephants can often be seen swimming and drinking. Activities here focus around game drives (by day and night) to seek Africa’s big game, especially elephants, buffalo, lion, leopard and wild dogs. Walking safaris and relaxing boat cruises on the Linyanti river system are also possible. Wilderness Duma Tau is a beautiful camp combining luxury and superb service with an authentic wilderness feel.

Day 4-6: Wilderness Mombo – 3 nights
After your morning activity you will connect with a private helicopter scenic flight west along the Selinda Spillway, looking for elephant and buffalo herds as you go and flying over numerous pods of hippo in the channel. As you reach the northern Okavango Delta you will turn south and land in the exclusive Mombo Concession on Chief’s Island in the remote north-west corner of the Moremi Game Reserve. Mombo has long been known as the best spot in Botswana for big game, with the savanna woodland and grassland of Chief’s Island being home to all the major predators. Activities at Mombo naturally focus around game drives, though walking safaris are also available. Water activities are not possible from this location. Wilderness Mombo has evolved over the many years it has been operating, and now represents the very best in luxury and sophistication that Botswana offers.

Day 4-6: Jack’s Camp – 3 nights
After your final game drive in the Mombo area you will connect with a shared light aircraft transfer south-east via Maun to the scenic Makgadikgadi Pans in the Kalahari Desert. From the air you will see the scale of Makgadikgadi and how different it is from the northern game areas. On landing you will proceed to the luxurious and iconic Jack’s Camp, set on a wooded island close to the edge of the pans and overlooking a permanent water hole that attracts a variety of different game throughout the dry season (May to early November). Activities at Jack’s Camp are different and varied, and in addition to game drives by day and night (the latter are especially productive with chances to see rare species such as brown hyena and aardvark) your stay will include visiting a habituated meerkat colony, quad biking on the pans (dry season only) and an educational walking safari with San Bushman. Horse riding and helicopter scenic flights are also possible at extra cost. Jack’s Camp is full of character and has very spacious, luxurious rooms. The atmosphere in camp is exclusive with excellent food and service.

Day 10: End of Arrangements
After your final morning activity, you will connect with a shared light aircraft flight to Maun.

US$21,500 – US$39,895 per person sharing (UK£17,200 – UK£33,250 per person sharing).

Full board accommodation, house drinks, laundry, internal light aircraft shared flights and private helicopter flights as specified, airstrip transfers, conservancy/park fees and guided game viewing activities.

It is easy to add further luxury safari camps to this itinerary, perhaps from within the Okavango Delta, or to include a visit to Victoria Falls or Cape Town before or after the safari. All our itineraries are tailor-made so please do not hesitate to ask us about any possible variations or extensions.

This itinerary is currently available year round, though game viewing is going to be best from May through to early November. Accessibility onto Makgadikgadi Pans is also easiest during this time, though the area is home to a significant zebra migration earlier than this, usually between December and April. More information can be found on our Botswana When To Travel page. Please speak to us regarding your specific requirements and we can recommend the best months to travel.

This itinerary starts and ends in Maun, which can be accessed on daily scheduled flights from Johannesburg and Cape Town, South Africa. International flights are not included in the price guide.
