NO. 1 FOR SAFARI IN THE SUNDAY TIMES TRAVEL MAGAZINE

“Why it’s top: The firm’s knowledge – of hundreds of camps in 12 countries – is extraordinary, gained through thousands of hours spent exploring the continent. Ask directors Michele and Rob where to see wild dogs, for example, and not only will they tell you the prime spots, but they’ll name the very best guides for the species”.

WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY ABOUT US

Hi Michele, another really wonderful trip and great contrast to the Pangolin one. Much more classic sightings, but the quality of the sighting was amazing!

John and Valerie from Worcestershire travelled to Zimbabwe
    October 2018

Dear Rob, the trip exceeded my expectations. Accommodation and food generally of a higher standard. I purposely did not do much research before going, so much of the trip was a wonderful surprise. Certainly has stimulated thoughts of visiting Africa again.

Susan from Worcestershire travelled to Namibia

The trip was absolutely perfect! NOTHING at all went wrong from the charter flights, to Covid tests. I’m so happy with how the trip turned out it was seriously so amazing. We had a great time! So thanks to you, and your team we so appreciate it. Again Frances thank you so much. This trip was amazing and of course when we can go back we will definitely use you again!

Many Many Happy Returns.

We are overjoyed to celebrate Martina’s 84th trip around the sun and her 20th remarkable journey to her second home, Kicheche Mara Camp. She has seen many extraordinary creatures on her countless safaris with us since 2010, including what has to be the most elegant river crossing of all time - her single file statuesque giraffes.

From ostriches capable of injuring big cats with their toes, and eagles and owls with talons capable of crushing their prey, to razor sharp bills of all shapes and sizes, we hope you enjoy this impressive group of birds. Many thanks to Phil Holmes for sharing his images taken recently in Kenya and Tanzania.

My final stop in Kenya and what a truly magnificen My final stop in Kenya and what a truly magnificent place - Sarara in the Namunyak Conservancy. The Mathews Range mountains make for a breathtakingly dramatic backdrop. The wildlife around the camps is active with elephants, buffalo, giraffe and zebra constantly around. But the Samburu culture is the real reason to come here. My local Samburu guide and tracker were superb company as we learnt about each other’s cultures.

Highlights included visiting the singing wells (an ancient Samburu tradition) and the Reteti elephant orphanage (run by the local community), hiking, sundowners and elephants drinking from the waterholes in front of the camps each night. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to partake in all the other experiences available which include visiting a local community and a mobile school, beading with the local Samburu ladies, night drives, horse riding and fly camping. I did, however, have time to appreciate how special a place Sarara is and, honestly, my pictures don’t do it justice! Frances

From Ol Pejeta, I spent a couple of nights on the From Ol Pejeta, I spent a couple of nights on the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. Lewa really is very beautiful, we had some amazing sundowner vistas and bush breakfast spots with expansive views, and the snow capped peak of Mt Kenya was always there in the background.

Most importantly, the game viewing was brilliant. The rhino viewing is certainly some of the best in Africa, both white and black rhino, and we also saw two pairs of lions mating right next to each other, as well as some lovely sightings of gerenuk, oryx and Grevy’s zebra. Frances

I have just returned from beautiful Kenya where I I have just returned from beautiful Kenya where I spent a week exploring the Laikipia region. I started the trip by visiting Mugie conservancy in the north, El Karama, followed by Ol Pejeta Conservancy.

I enjoyed seeing the variety of species, such as the rare Grevy’s zebra, the Dik Diks adapted to the more arid climate, and the reticulated giraffe. I had a lovely morning walk on El Karama, with beautiful views of Mt Kenya, and a bush dinner out under the incredible starry night sky.

On Ol Pejeta, I was taken aback by the activity around the waterholes at the moment. The lack of any decent rainfall over the past few years has meant the conservancy is very dry, and any water sources attract lots of activity – we saw rhino, buffalo, elephant, giraffe, impala and zebras all gathering around one waterhole. Frances.
