  • Ride Botswana – definitely the best riding safari I’ve done. Horses were fantastic and riding was just right for me with good long canters but also spells at a slower pace so not as hectic as Kenya rides for example. Excellent guiding from David with nice mix of horse and non-riding activities. Meerkats certainly a highlight!

Having specialised in travel to Africa since 1983, we are extremely proud to have built up a wonderful customer base of repeat travellers who recommend our services to their friends and colleagues. Whether our customers travel just once to Africa as a special celebration holiday, or go back multiple times a year, our aim is for every holiday to be perfect, every time. Listed below are just some of the comments we have received from our customers visiting Botswana in the past year.

Hi Michele, we had a wonderful time in Botswana; it was an exciting adventure for sure. Rather than just animal sightings (and there were tons) we were fortunate enough to be able to observe animals in their daily routine. Footsteps was my personal favourite camp - just 7 of them doing everything and making it all look so effortless and enjoyable. The walks were the best and just getting to camp from the airstrip was a real adventure. Loved it! Paddy particularly liked Selinda Explorers - especially the décor. Absolutely wonderful. It's amazing how many experiences can be packed into less than two weeks - it'll take many more than that to process it all. A lovely trip so thanks once again for your hard work to make it so for us.

Hi Rob, thank you so much for organising a fabulous holiday for us. We loved every minute of it and it far exceeded all our expectations (which were already high!). There were so many highlights and we are currently ploughing through and editing approximately 3,000 photos so are reliving all the memories. The Victoria Falls were magnificent, in full spate and Ilala Lodge was lovely. We loved the Chobe river, and the birdlife was superb. We saw about 60 elephants drinking at Elephant Bay which was memorable. The 3 safari camps were awesome. In every case the standard of accommodation was amazing, the food delicious and nothing was too much trouble. Our favourite camp was Shinde - the atmosphere and friendliness almost moved us to tears. At each camp we saw lots and a great variety of animals and birds. A highlight was a pride of nine lions at Selinda which, after an abortive warthog hunt, decided to flop down in the shade of our vehicle. They were so close I could have reached out and touched them. You have now thoroughly converted us to safaris and we have Namibia on the high wishlist.

Hi Michele, this is now the fourth time we have come to you with an outline of what we wanted to do. This time a focus on the Okavango Delta with a fully water based camp, a game based camp, a camp with mixed activities and a walking based camp. As previously, the itinerary you put together fully met the brief and we had a great holiday with experiences to remember. Many thanks once again for all the time and effort you put into this.

Hi Frances, we are now back (only in body, not in soul) and we'd like to thank you for the loving care and effort you put into organising our trip. We all had the time of our lives! The animals, the sunsets, the warm people who looked after us, the landscapes and the adventures that took all of us in one way or another our of our comfort zones, will stay with us forever.

March/April 2017

Rob, many thanks for organising a great trip for us. Pretty much everything worked like clockwork. Mashatu tented camp was very good. Excellently run with fantastic staff, very professional and friendly, food top notch too. Game viewing was still good despite the grass being high. We did see wild dogs on our first day. Leopards usually allude us too but our excellent guide Richard found 2 in three days for us. We loved the tents, large comfortable and well appointed with great bathrooms but our only criticism of the whole camp would be that there was no view / aspect. You were right about Tswalu, it was absolutely fabulous! Again guides can make or break the experience and we had an excellent guide Warren Pearson. Everything about Tswalu was top notch and you have now spoilt us for the future. Sadly no pangolin or aardvark but got very close to Hartmann's zebra, and the first brown hyena I have seen. Meerkats were fascinating and I could have sat with them all day. Many thanks again Rob, just loved it!

February/March 2017

Dear Frances, just to let you know that the trip went off without a hitch; it was a truly wonderful experience and will always be fondly remembered. The Letaka mobile safari was something of a highlight because our guide “Nkosi” was a true star. He was so passionate about the bush and all it has to offer. He was very considerate, a safe driver and had the most encyclopaedic knowledge of all the mammals and birds. He could answer every question going. He was also able to interpret the animal behaviour to track animals and find them. Quite outstanding. Our 7 days with him resulted in some emotional “goodbyes” when he saw us off from Xakanaxa airstrip for the finale at Vumbura Plains. That was a superlative end to the holiday and we agreed it was the best accommodation and “service” experience we have ever encountered anywhere in the world. Another highlight were the “Safari Brothers” – Grant and Brent Reed – turning up at Maun to greet us off our flight back from Vumbura. Rather beyond the call of duty but it was great to speak to them about our time in the Kalahari and the Moremi with Nkosi and how good the support team were led by Mousa the bush chef. Many thanks for putting together what will be remembered as a trip of a life time.

Dear Michele, you arranged a most amazing holiday for us, our two children, their spouses and five grandchildren to Cape Town, Gaborone and Madikwe. EVERYTHING was perfect, the transfers worked like clockwork, and you helped make our 50th Anniversary celebration a trip to remember forever. So a BIG THANK YOU - you did us proud.

Hi Michele, I wanted you to know that the trip was fabulous and has now replaced Peru as my favourite trip. You guys clearly know what you are doing. Several people even mentioned what a good variety of locations we were seeing. At Selinda, we loved the variety of topography. Saw so much, including two wild dog kills in one day. Lots of people never see one. Gruesome, but incredibly interesting. Loved the camp, the people, the food, the personal hospitality. At Shinde the landscape was wetter and interesting, the food was good and staff very nice. Camp Kalahari we saw some great birds and new animals especially at night and we enjoyed the meerkats. Drinks, dinner and sleeping on the pans was magical.

Dear Michele, Botswana, as usual, lived up to all my hopes and expectations. All your arrangements, timings, connections, etc. worked out beautifully - thank you. It really was my dream holiday - I don't think I've woken up yet! The 3 camps were absolutely delightful - very different in their own ways and at all three camps, my guides were excellent. Very best wishes to you all at Safari Consultants, and again thank you for organising my trip this year.

Hi Michele, we're back in Hong Kong now and trying to get over jetlag. The trip was amazing, thank you so much for everything. The overall organisation, transfers, quality of camps, etc. were flawless. We're really lucky as we get to travel frequently, but this was our first trip to Africa and it didn't disappoint. It was also great to meet the two Safari Consultants ladies at Kanana. We will definitely use Safari Consultants again and I'm already working on Tim for the next trip!

Hi Michele, many thanks for organizing us another great trip!, we have always wanted to see the Delta and it was great to see…we enjoyed the diversity of the trip and we saw and did a lot in the 2 weeks. We loved the team at Savute and the location of Kanana….and it was great to end at Waterberry Lodge where we saw the falls from both sides…We look forward to our next trip!

Hi Rob, we had a fantastic time - as a headline I would give Selinda a 5 out of 5 rating. Beautiful camp and experience enhanced by the boat ride from the boat station to camp past the hippos etc. Felt very close indeed to the wildlife - had baboons, elephants and hippos in/very close to camp. On the last morning we were sat having breakfast round the fire when a kudu crashed through 3 yards from us pursued by a pack of 16 wild dogs!! We saw the dogs twice, lions 4 times, leopard and lost count of the number of elephants. Guide OB was fantastic - very experienced. At Shinde our guide Bee was again very experienced and very good. Lovely Independence Day celebrations - staff charming and tried super hard. We did the mekoro excursions – a great experience. All the arrangements were superb. Everything worked incredibly well for which we thank you. Also, it was meant to be a real lifetime experience for Greg and it certainly was!!!! Already started thinking about next time - I'd love Botswana and Namibia together. Many many thanks for all the help you've given. I'm not pleased to be home though!!!!!

September 2015

Dear Rob, I just wanted to say a massive thanks for delivering a great holiday - you fulfilled my brief perfectly, and exceeded all our expectations. All arrangements, transfers and accommodation were like clockwork, no concerns at all. We liked that Elephant Plains and Muchenje arranged for us to have the same guides throughout our stay, as this greatly enhances the relationships and communication. Elephant Plains was a great location, great food & great staff. Morné Fouche our guide was very professional - we loved the drives and game walks with him. Over 3 days we saw 7 different leopard, 4 different rhino and a big herd of buffalo, 800-1000 strong which Morné managed to park just ahead of, then they flowed all around the vehicle for 20-30 mins as they passed, unforgettable. Muchenje - great atmosphere, felt like home from home, fantastic location on the escarpment overlooking the floodplain. We enjoyed the full day out with boat trip, picnic lunch then a game drive back along the Chobe waterfront, with hundreds of elephant, buffalo, zebra & sable. We got a fantastic front row view of a lion hunt by a pride of 10 lions. Waterberry Lodge was a great end to the holiday - fantastic location and good food. We enjoyed the sunset cruise, fishing, hippos on the lawn and bird watching. So relaxing to just chill on the banks of the Zambezi. The visit to the Falls was great. We have great photos and great memories - thank you. We now have lots of ideas for return trips, and will not hesitate to contact you.

Hi Mary, Many apologies for not contacting you to say a big thank you for organising the trip but I suspect we have all been caught in a Botswana bubble!!!! It was a great itinerary! The camps were all very different and enabled us to have a real insight into Botswana. It was ideal to end at Pelo Camp with a laid back and really remote environment having experienced the rather chi chi Duma Tau and the authentic Savuti Camp. The guides were solicitous and knowledgeable and the staff friendly and welcoming. The highlights.... The welcome and choirs at the camps, The fireside bars, The hot water bottles aka bush buddies, The superb setting for cocktails, The amazing array of wildlife flora and fauna. So as you can tell a great success. Many thanks.

August 2015

Hi Mary, I loved every minute of it, even though we had to get up at 5.30am every morning! The itinerary was fantastic – everywhere we went we were greeted by friendly staff who couldn’t do enough for us. It was full on, as we were moving every other day, but we soon got into the rhythm of it. Have to admit to being exhausted since I got back though! A real dream come true for me. Thank you.

Hi Frances, we had the most amazing time, took the helicopter flight over the Victoria Falls, Awesome!! The best camp was Okuti Camp. The staff were amazing. The whole camp had the most wonderful atmosphere because they cared so most about everything. The guides were extremely knowledgeable & informative, especially our guide Solly who specialised in birds. We had the most splendid time, one we won't forget in a hurry.

June 2015

Hello Michele, we want to thank you for organising our extraordinary safari adventure in Southern Africa. Everything that we had planned worked seamlessly and efficiently in all three countries, including eleven airplanes (+helicopter), multiple lodges and hotels over nearly three weeks. We saw and experienced everything we could imagine for Africa and came home exhilarated (and healthy). A special delight were the staff at all the lodges in Botswana, who seemed so happy to meet with us, spend personal time with us, and treated us like honoured family guests. Our game viewing drives covered all manner of terrain and close up encounters with so many animals and birds in their natural surroundings, that we took over 900 photographs combined. The expert and knowledgeable guides soon became new friends. The food and accommodations were first class and individually special everywhere. We were busy the whole time, and the places you chose presented an exotic variety of experiences. Some additional comments that did not detract from our delightful safari: * Night game drives with searchlights were OK, but somehow seemed intrusive and not too productive. * Nights and predawn drives were indeed cold despite hot water bottles, lush bedcovers, and vehicle blankets so we were happy to be there in June not August. We came well prepared with warm clothes, scarves and gloves and needed them on highway game drives - we were surprised how cold those cottages with screens, Kanana and Okuti, were at night and early morning. The low temperature was 0 degrees Centigrade one morning and no higher than 10 degrees on other days. * Victoria falls was extraordinary but so full of mist that a later date would have been better (my error). The helicopter ride provided an expanded view, but seemed rather expensive. Again, we congratulate Safari Consultants, for a complex network of arrangements between camps and transport operations that works flawlessly without delays across countries, rivers, airports etc. We have recommended Safari consultants to all our friends here, and to our families in the UK.

June 2015

Dear Rob, we had an amazing time, all of the places we stayed in were excellent and the order was just right. Selinda Camp was our favourite camp – the staff go out of their way to ensure you have everything you want. We also loved Footsteps Across the Delta; a peaceful and completely different experience to the rest. You were right that the animals weren't as plentiful as they were in Kenya but we still saw lots of them, even a leopard on one occasion. The bird life in Botswana is incredible too. Thanks again for a wonderful holiday.

May 2015

Dear Michele, we had a really great holiday and all went well.  Thanks for all the arrangements and accommodation recommendations. Thamakalane River Lodge is a great place for birding in their grounds. Letaka Safaris – Excellent. Olive Grove – Excellent, nice touches and great breakfast. Little Sossus Lodge – Excellent. Great accommodation with fantastic views from our front door.  Great food.  All very friendly.  Enjoyed the sundowner trip with lots of food and wine. The full day excursion to Sossusvlei was excellent and Pierre went out of his way to find the Desert Lark for us.  He was very good company and spent a lot of time showing us the area – a memorable day. Cornerstone Guesthouse - Excellent.  Very friendly and helpful. Accommodation huge and very clean, great breakfast.  One day not long enough. Brandberg White Lady Lodge - Friendly and excellent setting with beautiful desert gardens. Camp Kipwe - Excellent.  Our favourite place for its setting and design.  Food also excellent and Tafi was a great guide. We were lucky to see the desert elephants on our morning nature drive.  Erongo Wilderness Lodge - Excellent.  Good accommodation, great setting and views. Good birding and photo opportunities from the dining/terrace areas. Thanks again for everything.

April 2015

Dear Rob, I just wanted to let you know that we had an excellent trip. Everyone really enjoyed the time spent with the guides spotting and watching a great variety of wildlife. Savannah was just what we needed to get our feet on the ground. The Savannah Suite was perfect and a really relaxing place. All of the staff working in the lodge were great and made us very welcome. What really made it though was the energy and enthusiasm of the guide (Kevin) and tracker (Julius). We saw leopard, lions plus cubs, elephants, rhino and buffalo and two different cheetah. Letaka was excellent - Lucas was a first class guide and made every effort to look after us whilst we stayed with him. Footsteps was good, the walks were great and we very much enjoyed being on foot again. This time we saw a lot of lions and a pair mating at very close quarters; zebra and impala everywhere. We also saw six male lions in one morning which was quite a surprise, a civet at night plus some lions very close to the bush dinner which kept our attention. OP and Noah guided us very well and the girls really enjoyed a slightly more advanced young explorers camp. Kanana was excellent - they made a real effort to look after us and we appreciated that as well as the warmth of the welcome. Thank you for arranging it all.

Hi Michele, Fantastic wild dog sightings, glimpse of a sitatunga, kingfisher bashing a frog against the branch of a tree, 3 leopard sightings, lions every day. It was a great holiday and all your arrangements went very smoothly, a big thank you! Your arrangements are so great - even down to the selection of seats on the plane - they were perfect!

December 2014

Dear Rob, no two trips to Botswana are ever the same but as usual we had many remarkable experiences covering birds, animals, reptiles and insects. All the arrangements went like clockwork. Letaka did us proud as usual. We were welcomed with much enthusiasm, especially by the cook Musa, whom we had been with several times before, and of course Disho. The whole mobile safari experience was as enjoyable as ever, the boys were most attentive and looked after us very thoughtfully. The food was excellent, varied and plentiful. Disho's enthusiastic guiding brought us many interesting sightings, most of the time with no other humans in sight. We enjoyed our stay at Kalahari Plains very much and hope to return one day. Grant was really in excellent form as usual and we had a great time bird watching with him. Several birds were new to us and we were pleased to demonstrate that we could still name some of the larks he had taught us to identify on our previous spell in the Kalahari. We thoroughly enjoyed our fifth safari in Botswana, everything went smoothly and we have great memories of the people we met, the wildlife encounters and behaviour. Thank you very much for all you did to make it such a success. We look forward to the sixth!

November 2014

Hi Rob, We had a superb holiday, thank you. We're glad we started with Victoria Falls as were a bit tired at the end of the holiday and the low water did enable is to get a better view. We managed to see leopards for the first time, we witnessed a lion kill and we managed to catch roan, sable, genet, civet and a host of birds too numerous to mention. The guides were excellent at all of the camps and the camp crew / support staff were all good and everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. Food was very good in all the camps and the rooms were fine - we wish all tents were as luxurious. Would we go on this type of trip again. Yes. Would we consider using Safari Consultants? Yes.
Graham and Angela from Surrey travelled to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe and Botswana

October 2014

Dear Rob, we had a wonderful holiday. Without exception, we saw some great game in the safari areas and our trip to Livingstone and Cape Town were also most enjoyable. All our transfers went well, flights and representatives all good. Gamewise, we saw it all. From leopards (up a tree having it's lunch), cheetahs, elephants of all ages and sizes, rhino, giraffe, wild dogs (including a brilliant chase ending in a kill), everything. The zebra crossing was mesmerising and there were six lost to crocs. Two wildebeest crossings and lots of lions and cubs. Thanks for organising us another great memory.

We were introduced to Jane at Safari Consultants by a friend, and thank her wholeheartedly, because they have always arranged fantastic holidays for us, and it is reassuring to leave all planning in their very capable hands, and for me and my husband to relax and enjoy our vacation. We were lucky enough to have a very fast exciting canter with zebra, and a mock charge from an elephant where Gregory stood his ground between us and the elephant to shield us.
Andy and Marie from Norfolk travelled to Zambia and Botswana

September 2014

Jane, we thoroughly enjoyed the Zambia and Botswana Ruby Wedding Anniversary safari which you planned so carefully for us. Nothing was too much trouble in helping us to achieve our aim and everything was planned down to the finest detail. All plans worked perfectly. The standard of guiding within Botswana was excellent and the sheer amount of wildlife we saw, particularly at Chobe, was amazing. Although this is our third safari trip, we are both agreed that it has been the best yet. Many, many thanks from us both and here’s to the next time?

Dear Rob, I am writing to say thank-you for organising a wonderful safari, it lived up to our expectations and we all had a lovely time. All the accommodation was very comfortable, excellent and very tasty food. We all enjoyed the true wilderness experience and diversity of the landscape and appreciate that you did ensure we saw different areas so thank-you. The smells and sounds of Africa are of course one of the best bits and I loved the bee eaters which I have never seen before. We do feel we have had a very special holiday so thank-you for all your organisation.

August 2014

Dear Michele, I have to thank you for the excellent planning and arrangements. We won't hesitate to use your services again or to recommend Safari Consultants to other people. Kanana Camp was just beautiful. On the mokoro trail, we so much enjoyed the peace and quiet on the water and did some nice, long walks. We were lucky enough to spot two Pel´s fishing owls and see elephants crossing while sitting in a mokoro. We have admitted that we can stop pretending we have not yet decided whether to go back to Africa again or not. It is only the question of where.
Kati and Tero from Finland travelled to Botswana

August 2014

Dear Rob, I just wanted to thank you for organising such a wonderful safari. It all went like clockwork with no hitches. We were warmly welcomed where ever we went and the staff and guides were excellent, cheerful, friendly and helpful. The lodges were luxurious! The sundowners were special in that our guides chose beautiful places for us to get out of the vehicle, the surrounding bushes inspected for any nasty surprises and we enjoyed watching the sun go down with the different reflections and light that seems to only happen in Africa. Every lodge was different in different terrain and we saw lots of lovely birds and animals and were able to get close to many of them. We enjoyed the walks, Mokoro and boat trips. Lots of new experiences and it was a very happy family holiday. Thank you very much for choosing such lovely places to visit. Well done Rob, you did us proud.

August 2014

Hi Mary. Overall, it was the most amazing adventure. The start of our trip at Kanana was incredible. We did every activity available to us at every available opportunity. The inner Okavango Delta was so beautiful and we could easily have spent our entire trip there. Then we come to the camping part. Thank you so much for listening and understanding our needs as this was exactly what we were looking for... and so much more. At Third Bridge, you had to hardly leave camp to see all of the game. We saw two cheetahs, a pack of 9 wild dogs on multiple occasions and lions. The highlight of the game viewing was watching wild dogs chase off a young male lion as it had eyes on their kill, closely followed by watching wild dogs hunt for impala. Amazing. At Savuti camp, we got our first leopard spot. It was right next to the road relaxing under a tree. Such a beautiful animal. The landscape at Savuti was tailor made for viewing cats, especially down by the marsh. So different to anywhere else we have been. We managed to spot a pride of lions here, 5 in total with a Zebra kill. The long drive to Linyanti was totally worth it. Such a beautiful remote part of Chobe. At Waterberry, the setting was beautiful and we enjoyed a nice sundowner cruise along the Zambezi on our first night. Our full day in Zambia was obviously spent at the falls and we loved it. We took a Huey helicopter ride over the falls which words can't describe how amazing it was. I even did a bungee jump of the bridge too! Thank you once again for all of your help planning this, we will certainly be in touch again at some point in the future.

May/June 2014

Hi Rob, we had a fantastic trip. Livingstone has been spruced up slightly since our last visit. The Falls were magnificent, best we have ever seen them. I would recommend this time of year to anyone who wants to see the falls. Islands of Siankaba was the best we've ever seen the place. The food was fantastic, the staff are all great, I can't say enough about how pleasant, friendly and obliging all of the staff were. Kwando Lagoon - WOW - was as good as most of the camps I have been to in Botswana. The tented thatched rooms were enormous, the biggest rooms of any lodge I have ever stayed in. We all had a great time on each part of our trip, I was so glad to visit Africa again, Cara got so much out of the trip and best of all wants to go back!

May 2014

Hi Rob, All flights, transfers, pick-ups etc. went very smoothly, the organisation from start to finish was spot on. For the three "safari novices" among us, the start at Chobe was ideal. The sheer numbers of species and individual numbers we had seen by the end of the first (half) day left us spellbound. Disho, our guide there, was excellent; energetic, articulate, amusing and with a very sharp eye, picking out a treed leopard from about 400 yards away. The boat trip was very good, a completely different taste of the place, again with impressive numbers of hippos, crocs, elephants and birds. "Footsteps"....What a difference! All of the staff were good, and Paul, the guide is a natural entertainer and showman so was an excellent front man at mealtimes and round the campfire. His guiding was also excellent, the walks taking us to some superb places and wonderful views of the wildlife. Selinda Explorers was the jewel. The degree of comfort, luxury and high standard of food, catering and camp staff was as good as we could have desired. The crowning glory of the place, though, was Kane (pronounced Karney) who, as a genuine bushman displayed an amazing depth of knowledge. It was a privilege to be in his company for our time there, he quickly assessed our degree of interest and talked about his personal history and life, stories of his people and, of course a constant supply of information about the wildlife, plants, animals and birds. The walks with him were wonderful. Little Vumbura was superbly run and the standard of everything there is exemplary. It was fascinating to see such a contrasting waterworld area as well as the usual varied animal sightings. Many thanks indeed for your organisation and planning, I don't think we could have had a better introduction to a safari holiday; the difficulty would be in matching it!

Dear Rob, we have to comment on what a wonderful trip to Botswana you put together for us and we would like to make a special thank you and mention the wonderful attention Selinda gave us on the occasion of our ruby wedding anniversary. The private dinner was wonderful and we will always remember it. It was great to see another side of Africa which we thought was magical! Thanks again.
